Privacy and disclosure
How we earn money
The affiliate disclosure at the bottom of every page says which links earn us money. In addition:
- Offers are listed by total price, never by commission, and commissions never decide what we write.
- We do not currently take part in the Amazon Associates Program, so Amazon is not told that you came from this site.
- Amazon and the Amazon logo are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates.
What we collect
You can use this site without an account. The Search Amazon page sends the words you type to Amazon.com. We see those words only as anonymous totals in Google Analytics, so please do not type personal information into it.
Price comparison and favorites
When you compare prices, the words you search for, the quantity, and the ZIP code you enter are sent from our server to the stores we search (currently eBay) to get prices and shipping costs. We keep search results for up to 10 minutes to avoid repeat requests, and we do not link them to you.
Without an account, your favorites, ZIP code, and quantity are saved only in your own browser on your device. They are not sent to us unless you check prices, and clearing your browser data deletes them.
Accounts
If you create an account, we store:
- your email address, and when you confirmed it;
- your saved favorites (product name, store, link, and the last total you saw);
- a sign-in cookie on your device that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. It is required for accounts and is not used for advertising.
We send email only when you ask: a sign-in link when you sign in, and your favorites list when you choose "Email my favorites". Emails are delivered by our email provider, Resend, which processes your email address only to deliver our messages. Every favorites email includes a link to stop all emails.
You can delete your account at any time on the account page. This deletes your email address and favorites from our database right away. We keep short records of sign-in and email requests, stored in a form that cannot be traced back to your address, to prevent abuse; they are deleted after two days. If you ask for a sign-in link but never use it, we delete your email address after seven days.
Cookies and third parties
- Google: this site uses Google Analytics and a Google tag to measure visits, which pages are read, clicks on links to Amazon.com, the words typed into the search helper, and advertising results. Google may set cookies. You can learn more and control ad personalization at Google's Ads Settings page.
- Amazon: when you follow a link to Amazon.com, Amazon may set its own cookies, as described in Amazon's own privacy notice.
